Manager, Business Development

Who we are:
Every day, we come to work excited to help music fans see their favorite artists on tour. Fans track their favorite artists so they never miss them live, and artists sell more tickets to their concerts. We’re going through a period of explosive growth and need your help. We’re now the second-largest concert site on the web after Ticketmaster, and our iPhone app had over 100,000 downloads in the first 2 weeks since launch. We were one of Spotify’s first dozen launch partners for their app platform. We’ve been written up in TechCrunch, The New York Times, The Guardian, Billboard, Music Week, and many more. Our investors include Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, SoftTech VC, and other leading investors.
What we’re looking for:
Although Songkick is built around fans, we reach those fans through an increasing number of channels. This can be via our partnerships with YouTube, Foursquare, Yahoo!, Nokia, Bandcamp, Root Music, Fanbridge, Mobile Roadie, SoundCloud, Topspin, Warner, and others. This can be via our developer platform, which includes a public API to support the innovation of developers everywhere. This can also be via partnerships with the label, artist management, and agency communities from LA to Nashville. To support this work, Songkick is looking for a dedicated Business Development person to evangelize Songkick to our various partner communities. This role will report to our to our US General Manager. The role is based in the SF Bay Area and requires travel – US and International.
Responsibilities:

Evangelize our overall mission – to get more fans to more shows – to the technology and music industries

Establish Songkick as the way for an artist to distribute their tour dates online. Work passionately and tirelessly to help them sell more tickets

Be the person that communicates our plans, new releases (and at some point mistakes) to our various partners

Be our eyes and ears in the artist management community and help define the product roadmap around artist facing products. This will involve liaison with our product and development teams
Requirements:
- 3+ years experience in a business development role, ideally at a technology company

A passion for using technology to help partners and artists

Extremely organized. You’re always on top of your email, and have proven experience juggling a wide-range of relationships impeccably

Connected. You’ll have a strong network in the tech and music communities
- Able to work effectively remotely. You’ll be excellent at communicating your roadmap and progress via email and conference calls. A straight hustlin’ self-starter.

Natural evangelist. You’re highly persuasive, charismatic, full of passion, energy, and quick to empathize, you can sell anything that you really believe in
- Used to achieving a lot with limited resources
- Ambitious, you’ll be known as a rising star with massive potential
- Start-up experience a plus
- Willing to travel frequently within the US, and periodically to London
- Based in SF Bay Area
