QA Engineer

Location : London, UK

Who we are:

Every day, we come to work excited to help music fans see their favorite artists on tour.  Fans track their favorite artists so they never miss them live, and artists sell more tickets to their concerts.  We’re going through a period of explosive growth and need your help. We’re now the second-largest concert site on the web after Ticketmaster, and our iPhone app had over 100,000 downloads in the first 2 weeks since launch. We were one of Spotify’s first dozen launch partners for their app platform. We’ve been written up in TechCrunch, The New York Times, The Guardian, Billboard, Music Week, and many more.  Our investors include Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, SoftTech VC, and other leading investors.

What we’re looking for:

Songkick is looking for an agile QA to join our world-class engineering team. We place QA at the heart of our agile development process – this role is about communication, collaboration and testing in the most efficient way (automated or manual) in order to ship quality software fast.

Songkick is focused on solving an interesting and fun problem: how to make the discovery of concerts in your city a delightful and effortless experience. Our team is highly technical and committed to product quality and user-centred design.

This role will suit someone with experience testing in an environment that values test automation and agile development. A technical/programming background is a bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Know the product inside-out – and understand our business and our user community in order to ask the right questions of the product.
  • Provide input and perspective at the earliest design/development stage on where and how a proposed feature will fit, look and behave on the site.
  • Work with developers to make sure edge cases are considered during development and acceptance tests are automated where appropriate.
  • Plan and undertake exploratory testing to find the issues that automation can’t.
  • Play a proactive role in ensuring changing requirements and emerging restraints are communicated throughout development.
  • Similarly, provide visibility on progress of development work, and expected completion.
  • Work closely with our Community Manager in responding to technical issues reported by our users.
  • Identify gaps in our process and tools, and be creative about solving problems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in testing software, preferably web based.
  • A passion for creating great products.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Inspiring levels of personal organisation.
  • Very strong communication skills, both with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Willingness and ability to rapidly learn new techniques and technologies.
  • Drive, passion and a desire to work in a start-up environment: have the creative initiative to put robust systems in place with no precedents – and the pragmatism to plug holes quickly when you can’t!

A love of live music is a bonus!
