ANZAC DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY EVE
Originally forming in 2006, Big Scary is a Melbourne-based boy/girl two-piece. Joanna chills at the kit, occasionally chiming in with some backing vocals, whilst lead singer Tom swaps between electric guitar and keys, in turn moulding the on-stage genres from grunge to pop to moody ballads. Releasing their debut album ‘Vacation’ in October 2011 to widespread critical acclaim, including being listed among Triple J Music Director Richard Kingsmill’s top ten albums of the year, the band was feted widely in the awards season, picking up an Album of the Year nomination in the Triple J awards and nominations for breakthrough artist in both the Australian Independent Record Association and The Age EG Awards.
