Known as “El Rebelde del Acordeón,” famed vocalist and accordion rebel Celso Piña almost single-handedly created the burgeoning cumbia scene in Monterrey, Mexico with his first album more than three decades ago. Piña expertly infuses the classic, rural sounds of tropical cumbia with a modern cosmopolitan vibe that draws from Mexican regional traditions as well as collaborations with Latin alternative’s leading innovators.
