Tour name: CSF 2Cellos Charity Benefit Concert
On Sunday, October 14, 2012, 2Cellos will perform at a charity benefit concert at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City. The concert will benefit the Croatian Scholarship Fund (CSF), a Northern California based 501(c)(3) charity that provides four-year college scholarships to deserving young men and women from Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina to attend university in Croatia. The twenty plus year old charity is the largest private provider of university scholarships to attend university in Croatia.
The meteoric success of 2Cellos started when former cello rivals Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser decided to join forces to showcase the cello as an instrument for contemporary music. In January 2011, they uploaded their own unique cello version of “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson onto YouTube. Within a few weeks, their video was a massive viral sensation receiving over 5 million views. One of those viewers was none other than Sir Elton John, who personally contacted and invited the 2Cellos to join him as the opening act on his worldwide tour. Within weeks, the 2Cellos had secured a record deal with SONY MASTERWORKS. The cello duo covers rock and pop tunes from the likes of AC/DC, Nirvana, Guns & Roses, U2, Michael Jackson, just to name a few.
Festivities for the concert will kick off with a VIP pre-concert party for sponsors, supporters and guests of CSF. The private, VIP party begins at 5:00 PM with a highlight of the party being a pre-concert appearance by Luka and Stjepan. Doors will open to the public at 6 PM with the concert starting at 7 PM. Concert tickets go on sale August 14, 2012 via the Fox Theatre box office at www.foxrwc.com or by calling 650.FOX.7770, option 1. Individual tickets are $30 to $50 with VIP packages at $150 each.
