Voted by many as the best performance of Bluesfest in 2012, Bettye LaVette is truly returning by popular demand next Easter. Grammy Award nominated soul singer, Bettye LaVette, is celebrating a staggering 50 years in the music industry, and we are both thrilled and honoured to welcome her back to the festival. With declarations such as “Miss LaVette now rivals Aretha Franklin as this generation’s most vital soul singer” from the New York Times, it is not surprising that her 2012 performances captivated festival headliner John Butler, and had a bunch of Bluesfest staff transfixed for her entire jaw dropping set! Bettye’s new album, ‘Thankful N’ Thoughtful’, features a selection of contemporary tracks written and previously recorded by Bob Dylan, The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Patty Griffin, Gnarls Barkley just to name a few. Do not miss the opportunity to see this living legend in the intimate setting of the Corner Hotel band room. Check out this video of her performing a cover of The Who’s ‘Love Reign O’er Me’ at the 2008 Kennedy Centre Honours.
