plus The Mastersons

Rabble-rousing godfather of the alt country scene, Steve Earle, brings his highly celebrated electric live band The Dukes to Liverpool Philharmonic, his first appearance here since 2008. Earle is a master storyteller. His songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others.

His debut record, Guitar Town, shot to No.1 on the country charts and immediately established the term ‘New Country’. What followed was an extremely exciting and varied array of releases including the politically charged masterpiece, Jerusalem (2002) and the award winning albums The Revolution Starts…Now (2004), Washington Square Serenade (2007) and Townes (2009) which all scooped the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album.

In addition to three Grammy awards he was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2004, other recipients include John Prine and Tom Paxton. His newest album, The Low Highway is released 16 April.
