BIRDS OF TOKYO ANNOUNCE
CAIRNS AND TOWNSVILLE SHOWS IN JULY
After performing recently in the United States, multi-ARIA Award winners Birds Of Tokyo arrive home this week and announce two special live shows for fans in north Queensland this July.
Prior to performing at the sold out Splendour in the Grass Festival in Byron Bay, Birds Of Tokyo will play Brothers Leagues Club, Cairns on Wednesday July 24 and The Venue, Townsville on Thursday July 25. Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public at 9am Thursday May 30.
Having completed a sell-out national tour earlier this year, Birds of Tokyo received rave reviews for shows across their ‘March Fires’ album tour. A highlight of the set was the band’s new single and crowd favourite ‘When the Night Falls Quiet,’ which media described as "Stirring, anthemic and tailor made for rattling around arenas…"
‘When the Night Falls Quiet’ is the follow up single to the biggest hit of the band's career to date, the #2 National Airplay Chart hit 'Lanterns'. Exceeding triple-platinum sales, ‘Lanterns’ saw Birds of Tokyo as the 'Most Played Australian Artist on radio' for the first 3 months of this year.
Their fourth studio album ‘March Fires’ debuted at No. 1 on the National ARIA Albums Chart and holds the highest selling first week sales of any album in 2013, now approaching platinum sales. The album's first hit single ‘This Fire' is also nearing platinum sales and is shortlisted for the prestigious 'Song Of The Year' at the 2013 APRA Award.
Supports for both show are yet to be announced, so stay tuned for further details.
