Tour name: The Impossible Gentlemen live at the RNCM
Band on the Wall presents the acclaimed transatlantic jazz supergroup launch their second album with a tour featuring this very special concert at the Royal Northern College of Music.
. The group brings together the unique individual talents of British piano sensation Gwilym Simcock, Salford guitarist and UK guitar great Mike Walker, and the supreme US rhythm section of bassist and 13 time Grammy winner Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group) and drummer Adam Nussbaum. The results of this meeting of musical minds are exciting, new and powerful.
The group’s 2011 debut album was highly acclaimed, with All About Jazz describing the group as ‘jazz at its most exalted’ and The Guardian proclaiming it as ‘world-class jazz, nothing short of sensational’. The band’s second album, expertly produced by Steve Rodby, further develops their dynamic ensemble sound and fluid, melodic playing style, drawing on more intricate and memorable compositions from both Walker and Simcock. The group’s appearance at RNCM should not be missed!
"The upper echelon of the jazz world is a place of constantly shifting alliances. But even by those standards, the Impossible Gentlemen is a rare and fabulous group of talents" The Times
