Tru Thoughts presents

Alice Russell returns home to Brighton at the end of November for the very last date of her second tour this year in celebration of her latest album, ‘To Dust’. The Coalition venue on Brighton’s legendary seafront will host her super sharp and entertaining band while support comes from Nottingham soulstress, Harleighblu and Tru Thoughts’ label boss Rob Luis.

On its release in February ‘To Dust’ unveiled Alice Russell’s most impressive and unique work to date, attracting plaudits including BBC 6Music Album of the Day and heralding the next step forward in a remarkable career. In combining the vocal prowess and raw emotional potency of classic soul with a forward looking and experimental openness, Alice Russell has become known as a true breath of fresh air, and one of the greatest voices of our time. ‘To Dust’ sees Russell and producer/cowriter TM Juke drawing on their eclectic influences, for a record that pushes the boundaries of soul music, and an incendiary live experience.

This November tour follows sold out Spring dates in the UK, Europe and US, with high profile spinoffs including Alice Russell’s US Network TV debut on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live show in May. A storming primetime set on Glastonbury’s West Holts Stage was then filmed and heavily featured by the BBC; with her effervescent charm, captivating vocal talent and rock star energy, alongside her eight strong posse of musicians and backing singers, she won over the huge festival crowd to add to her ever growing fan base.

Amid heavy daytime and specialist airplay on BBC 6Music, Radio 2, KCRW and beyond, Alice Russell has been in high demand for live sessions and appearances this year including BBC 6Music Live @ Maida Vale; Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2), Huey Morgan (BBC 6Music), Robert Elms (BBC London), The Selector, Loose Ends (BBC R4) and the 6Music Lunchtime Show, among others in the UK and internationally.
