"This is the finale and everyone is on stage. I love that Dan Deacon dives into the stage to get his strobe lights and Adam somehow gets a hold of them. Total party on the stage."

um... this show was AMAZING! It was supposed to be outdoors but was relocated to brooklyn bowl (yes, a bowling alley) and I am glad it was as I don't think it would have had nearly the same vibe. First of all there was a very deep line that winded around the block so we tried our luck at the VIP line and my friend Anna from These Are Powers got in line behind us and (eventually once they paid attention to that part of the line) was able to get us all in as part of her group ahead of the regular line. (thanks again Anna!)
This tour is unique in that Dan Deacon, No Age, and Deerhunter are all simultaneously set up on the stage and round robin their sets and some of them (obvs) bleed into each other. My friend Adam said that it is pretty nightmarish on everyone as they have to set up and break down so many extra stage set-ups but I think it's worth it as it is quite a spectacle.
So we were inside and the opening bands played and just after the round robin started my friend Stephen found me and took me to this crazy control area that happens to overlook the venue. It was a great place to shoot video (which I did).
There was lots of crowd surfing, band swapping/merging, and an energy I haven't seen at a show in New York in quite a while. It was really great to witness it.
Also great, is that they decided early on once they saw the magnitude of the line that they were going to do the round robin set AGAIN after the original show. I thought for a moment about staying for the second set but quickly decided that after *4* hours at a venue that it was time to go home.

oh and one of the best lines from the night was from some random girl... Basically we were still in line and Bradford from Deerhunter comes out to suss out the situation and talk to a friend of his and some girl recognizes that he must be part of a band and goes up to him and is like "OMG ARE YOU FROM ANIMAL COLLECTIVE???!" he just looks at her and was like "Yeah, that's right Animal Collective" and walks off. We were dying.
