"Lou Reed last night at De Montfort Hall - very patchy indeed - at times inspired but on the whole rather self indulgent (lots of guitar noodling and a set that wasn't going to pander to popular tastes in any way). The encore was "Perfect Day" (perhaps his one concession) and the whole thing was done and dusted by 9:45pm - he did play for an hour and three quarters though. Full marks for Lou's handling of hecklers..

    Heckler # 1 - Play Sweet Jane!
L.R. - Hey! Some guy thinks it's 1965... you've got a lot of catching up to do buddy! (or words to that effect).

This in itself is not that funny but when combined with this it is (well in my opinion).

Disgruntled fan walking past merchandise stall - yeah you won't play anything from 1965 but you're quite happy to sell merchandise from that era (there were some t-shirts with images from "Transformer" on sale - I think this was released in 1971 but you get the point)."
