I added what I think is most of the BBC setlist, probably in not quite the right order.

It was good, but you could tell Black Francis wasn't feeling it: no banter with the audience. Nice visuals including http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Un_chien_andalou and some vids of the band messing about. Recent Breeders show had a lot more audience-band connection and atmosphere.

First off, I really enjoyed Bombay Bicycle Club. Having only heard "Always Like This" I was expecting something a lot more poppy I guess. BBC have a sweet alt rock sound and are really tight live while still putting lots of energy and motion into their stage presence. Approved!

Then there was Pixies. I pretty much entered a state of euphoria that still hasn't quite left me. The crowd was 50-50 on the b-sides they opened up with, but I loved hearing "Weird at my School" live, definite highlight.

"Debaser" kicked in and the crowd went nuts. I completely lost sense of time as they expertly blazed through the Doolittle tracklist and the crowd was loving every second of it. Not much chatter between songs except a few nervous quips by Kim Deal who looked really pleased and surprised by the crowd's enthusiasm. There was a great moment during "Monkey Gone to Heaven" when some dude expertly timed his crowd surf over the front barrier with the climax of the song.

The encores were equally blistering, with my one and only gripe of the whole night being that they chose to play the UK surf version of Wave of Mutilation when they'd already done the original in the main set. "Into the White" was accompanied by epics amounts of smoke machine creating a visual pun with the band literally disappearing "Into the White" (hurrr).

The second encore was another outing into Surfer Rosa and the crowd only got more excited. "Where is My Mind?" sent the crowd into a frenzy to close the show with so much crowd surfing that the security almost couldn't catch everyone behind the barrier.

I'm in disbelief at how good this show was, with songs that were released 20+ years ago. Say what you will about the Pixies "selling out", they still put on an exceedingly good show and I was happy to hand over my money to them. Long live the Pixies!

I have spare tickets for the wednesday gig. They are balcony tickets. I'm not looking to make any money on these. I need to check the price tonight - something like £33 + booking fee & delivery. I have a paypal account & can send the tickets by registered post (approx £5.40)

    Any takers?

fantastic news on the support ... BBC are great - they're young as f**k but sound much older, elements of Television and The Smiths
