"I don’t know if I’m getting softer, if times are getting tougher, or Daniel is getting better and better, but that was superb, certainly a highlight of my 2009 live shows.

The Wave Pictures were delightful and warmed the audience to an appropriately fuzzy ambience with their soft spangley tunes in a haze of autumn afternoons with tea in southern towns...

then Daniel came on and did that thing he does that makes you feel like you’re a voyeur in his living room, witnessing something strange and unique. This was only enhanced by the chapel’s pew seating, which added a subdued air of reverence, I was a big weepy mess somewhere into Hey Joe and I managed to come up to dance in my pew for Speeding Motorcycle, and what a ride it all was.

I always feel privileged to get to see him, but this time especially so."

"His last performance at Union Chapel was better than this - more classics, zero Beatles covers and he had James Yorkston accompanying him.

Plus he does that gag about someone attempting suicide being sentenced to death at every single show.

Still, he's a genius; no question."

"Although I think it lost it a little bit towards the end this was still an incredible show, Daniel performed so well far far beyond my expectations truly amazing gig!"

"Even knowing the song, I kept thinking he was singing “Don’t let the sun go down your premiums”, which made for a bittersweet number about home and contents insurance.

Loved the Come Together cover too. Pretty great Daniel Johnston set all over."
