Anoushka Shankar at Sadler's Wells (London)
Venue: Sadler's Wells
Rosebery Avenue
Ec1
London, UK
"The second half was much better than the first half. Anoushka mentioned that she's the one who insisted on the dancers being there in the first half "because she was playing in Sadler's Wells" - don't think that was a smart move. She's talented, but not super-talented. I think a lot of it is the hype that comes with her being Pandit Ravi Shankar's daughter (he was in the audience by the way). And Nick Abel from Newcastle, the triple tanpura player who was her father's student, seemed to be quite sad to be there - just disappeared and didn't appear for the final bow either! The other instrumentalists were all quite good."
