"Well this was raw rock n’ roll served up in a garage band blues kind of way, taking in some Rolling Stones via Led Zep and on through Royal Trux – in a way that not many could/should imitate. In fact the Dead Weather has it down pat – so much so that from afar the band seemed almost comedic when the band members went through their rock n’roll shape throwing (Advanced version 2.0). Somehow you knew that King Jack would not be able to spend a whole performance at the drums – and lo and behold fans went suitably weak at the knees when he hitched on his strap-on and began to milk all sorts of sounds from it in the manner of a demented blues-man complete with suitable facial expressions. Let’s face it the White Stripes main man is a pretty strong draw whatever he is doing/playing with and yes the band rocked – but it was all a bit formulaic for me."
