"This was a great night. Seeing a band like Ash squeeze into a small venue, with a mini mosh pit was amazing, a special night at the peel. Special mention should be given to support band Panama Kings who have been invited onto the whole A To Z tour with Ash, and well deserved it was too. They stormed through a short set of memorable songs, some standard guitar bass drums affairs but others with two keyboards going on behind the lead singer and his guitar that gave them a thumping electro feel. Standout song was one called Mobiise the Kids, which the singer explained through his ginormours guitar, had been banned by the BBC because he uses the word 'fucker' and sucker wouldn't do the job. Being introduced to Panama Kings was just and added extra to a special night.
Tim Wheeler from ASh has been one of the unsung songwriting heroes from the Britpop era and in tonights set which included alll the classics including Girl From Mars and Oh yeah and Burn Baby Burn they previewed a whole bunch of new songs as strong if not strongger than their biggest hits. they are releasing 26 singles in a year, that's one a fortnight and if usually a band releases 4 singles a year that's a tall order in anyone's book but all the new songs on show tonight shine.. especially one with a chorius that goes "out of Control" - didn't catch the title, perhaps that was it. All in all a VERY special night in Kingston"
