"Odd writing a review of a gig that I played, so all I'll say about my performance it that I enjoyed it, and by my standards I was pretty happy with it. Basically, I made as few mistakes as possible, which is always nice (and doesn't happen all too often). I slowly seem to be getting a bit more confident, but still have a fair way to go.

Right, now onto the real musicians and talent! I really enjoyed The Go Away Birds, they were incredibly charming. Catherine has a wonderful voice, and it really suits their blues tinged folk. There was a really nice song about love conveyed through the use of chips as a narrative :) I recommend going to their website and listening to them for yourself. And if you sign up to the mailing list you can get a download of one of their EPs for free: http://thegoawaybirds.com/goawaybirds.html

Stars of Sunday League were a pleasure to watch, as always. I think they now tally as my most watched band this year. Harvey Milk has to be one of my favourite songs of the year too. All in all, the night was quite a nice showcase of light hearted music, that is honest and endearing, without any pretentiousness. I like a gig with a bit of banter, and you're always guaranteed that with Euan (SoSL). I really just like the dynamic between Sarah and Euan, and the element that the violin brings to the songs always has my undivided attention when watching these folks live. It was just a nice warm feeling gig, on a rather miserable autumn night. Could have done without the smell of sewage in the Windmill though!"
