On Christian Forshaw:

Christian Forshaw's haunting collaboration of saxophone, organ, percussion and voices present an alternative take on the Advent season with music from his latest album Midwinter. The saxophonist's simple and emotive style is complimented perfectly by the beautiful clear soprano tone of Grace Davidson with a collection of arrangements by both himself and collaborator Jeremy Holland-Smith.

The Midwinter CD features ten beautifully crafted arrangements of seasonal songs and follows Forshaw’s two previous successful recordings with the Sanctuary Ensemble: his debut album Sanctuary in 2004 and follow up album Renouncement released in 2007. Tracks from all three albums are played on Classic FM and BBC Radio 2 and have been featured on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC 1 TV. Sanctuary also reached number 1 in the Amazon Classical Charts and the track Mortal Flesh was nominated for the 2005 Classical Brits. Forshaw will feature on BBC Radio 2's Good Morning Sunday throughout Advent this year introducing tracks from his new album.

On Jo Hamilton:

“When Jo sings, something thaws that I didn’t even realise was frozen.” Sweet Billy Pilgrim (2009 Mercury Award nominated artist)

On Erland and the Carnival:

Pentangle meets Ennio Morricone meets Love meets 13th Floor Elevators meets Joe Meek.

On Fuzzylights:

..they create haunted, visceral music that pulls and tugs at its moorings.
