"This concert was incredible. My first Depeche experience live was December 5,1987 age 15 at the Forum in LA, and I have followed every tour since. The last tour in 2005 I did not think they could top. I was wrong they did.
I had never been to the Santa Barbara Bowl. Nice ambiance outside good sound. Funny thing happened all the sound everything went dead in the middle of the third song. So many shows had been cancelled to to Dave's numerous health problems, so I was ecstatic this show was going on. The time I was given officialy for the sound outage was fourteen minutes, althouth it seemed like 20-25 minutes to me. A technicians worst nightmare.
This was a very intimate show, a small gig and Dave really as always engaged the audience and was in top form dancing and excellent vocals.
To me this show was a gift to the fans ,because Dave had had so many health issues and there were so many cancellations on this tour. Off the new album they only did about three or four songs. The rest all oldies way back. They did Fly On The Windscreen off Black Celebration, mind blowing. I've never heard it live.
Martin sang three solos incredibly beautiful. His vocal range incredible. He did Jezebel off Sounds Of The Uiverse, Home off Ultra and to my great surprise and enjoyment did the best version of Somebody I have ever heard. I cried all the way through it.
I doubt the band will see this but I must say to Depeche and all involved, thank you for a memorable evening I will treasure and never forget.
Raymond Johnson"
