"Leeds is a funny city for me, I seem to have gigged here quite a few times but rarely have I come away thinking it was an amazing gig. However I know so many Ledonsians due to Chiefs that when the opportunity comes up its hard to say no to them. The meet up decided for us if we should check out the supports or not, I hadn't heard good things about Lissie Trullie and was going to be seeing Adam Green at Southampton so it was not a big loss in my eyes.
Our group headed towards the venue and got in just before The Cribs took to the stage, just enough time for drinks and cloakroom before heading into the pit. Fantastic timing.
Stood nearer the back for the first third, this was too quiet for me so pushed in further, found the ring of love birds surrounding the pit - we all know the type they stand there scared to let go of each other in case god forbid they are separated for more than a millisecond. I managed to stay here for the second third before I could take no more and pushed myself finally in the pit, I had managed to lose all of the group I had been with by this stage but hell who cared, the band were playing and finally I was with like minded people who wanted to jump like crazy and sing along till voices were lost. Ahhhh bliss. City of Bugs does something incredible to me, its a feeling of true elation, I have never had that for one song before, bands and gigs yes but one song, never.
I think if I had managed to find the pit straight off I would have enjoyed this gig a whole lot more, the band played well and popped in some older classics like Direction and You're gonna lose us but as it happened in the gig off between cities Sheffield won.
As a side some of the group had trouble getting in due to see tickets cancelling their tickets without notification - apparently even though my friend was holding the tickets they were down as having been lost in the post. Begs a couple of questions, why were no other tickets sent or why were their no tickets on the door for my friend? And would it really have cost them too much to let the ticket holder know? The venue also could have been a little more helpful."
