Community Manager

Songkick is looking for an extremely passionate live music fan to be our community cheerleader. You may be an experienced community management professional, or you participate in many social websites and love the way the web brings people together, and you’re ready to make that your career.

Salary, Start date and perks

Negotiable + generous stock options, depending on qualifications/experience. Start date ASAP. Perks include monthly concert tickets stipend, great location, and a charming multi-national team hailing from California to Rio Grande, Bedford to Schwäbisch Hall.

If you are the person we’re looking for, you…

  • Are a massive live music fan (you go to more gigs than anyone you know).
  • Are knowledgeable and respectful of all genres of music (even if you have your niche!).
  • Have an authentic online voice: you already blog, Tweet, or put your concert photos online.
  • Care about others’ problems and opinions.
  • Enjoy meeting people, online and offline.
  • Are highly organized.
  • Can get your ideas/suggestions taken seriously by colleagues (i.e. you can defend your point of view).

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and participating in discussions on Songkick and elsewhere on the web.
  • Thinking critically about what our community needs and working with the design team to implement new features and tools for them.
  • Creatively and proactively assisting our users.
  • Identifying and engaging key users.
  • Ensuring the team knows about all feedback, wherever it originated.
  • Rule-setting/moderation within the community.
  • Tracking and analyzing trends in community conversation and activity.
  • Establishing metrics and reporting on them monthly.
  • Making recommendations to the team, e.g. prioritize bugs for quality assurance, suggest new killer features to product development, advise on how to communicate with our users in our copy and emails.
  • Growing, training, and managing a community team and network.
  • Being a highly visible team member and key ambassador for Songkick. (You’ll attend events on our behalf.)
  • Brainstorm offline events that will bring our community together.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant recent experience, whether part of your day job or not, includes:
    • Contributing to a music blog
    • Moderating or actively participanting in a music forum/other online music community
    • Fansite owner
    • Keen concert photographer

Advantageous

  • 1 – 3 years experience as a Community Manager.
  • Existing knowledge of community tools and best practices, and how other organizations are using them.

At interview, you can expect questions about…

  • How community trends, activity, and feedback should inform Songkick’s product development, business development, feature prioritization, branding, marketing etc.
  • How you would draw conclusions from large quantities of data on what our users are doing.
