I was introduced to this site by the delightful catgirl who, like me, is an obsessive gigger. I like my music heavy and hard with lots of thumping drums, thudding bass, screaming vocals blistering guitars, tosh for lyrics, and washed down with beer and Jack Daniels.

    "I wasn't particularly impressed by Pineapple Thief who were basically a lightweight cross between Radiohead and Porcupine Tree. Their set got off to a slow start with two rather tuneless mid tempo numbers. The lead singer also needs to develop more of an on-stage presence. Their music isn't strong enough to expect total silent reverence from a live crowd. There were loads of people chattering away at the back who had plainly lost interest. If a rock band is doing its job that shouldn't happen.

    Riverside on the other hand represent everything that's good about the new wave of rock coming out of Eastern Europe. Their music has lots of rhythm and melody and the bloke is a great singer. They are clearly influenced by prog metal but they also bring something original to the mix. I bought their last two albums at the gig. They are a band to watch and I hope they get more exposure over here, especially at summer festivals."
