"@Orgasmatron - behave Daffy - you are playing havoc with an old man's memory - thank god I have a contemporaneous aural reminder - so wishing to be pedantic ... The Pop Group had not split by then although they were clearly on their last legs - Mark Stewart has said it was the last Pop Group concert and the first Maffia one (which reminds me to find and post a Maffia gig I went to at Kingston poly in 82 (to be posted later) - this makes sense given the songs played as all the Pop Group personnel were there as well as Sean "The Mighty Hogg" Oliver (RIP) on bass and Flash later of Rip Rig on sax. I remember it being noisy, chaotic, lots of people on stage and the Pop Group playing Jerusalem – which didn’t sound at all like the hymn we used to sing in school assembly. We even got invited to a party at Buckingham Palace by Mark Stewart – but I think he was joking!"

"These festivals, while they lasted, were essential. The last one I went to was in 2001 - after which I think they just folded - probably because the line-ups were just too good and they put on so much. Flying over top hip hop artists from the US, top reggae artists from Jamaica, plus big headline acts on the main stage, cannot be cheap and all for £30. Bargain! The only difficulty from a punter's point of view was knowing what to sacrifice, as you could not see everyone. Fortunately the site was pretty small which made getting around really easy but unfortunately the size of the tents left a lot to be desired."
"I cannot remember whether this was the Clapham gig where FFF supported - a seriously hot French Funk/Rap band - think of a turbo-charged Urban Dance Squad with tunes. Needless to say the gig was smoking and the place was jumping and perfect evidence of why Clinton worked so much better in these smaller venues than say Brixton Academy ...."
"Second of two concerts that evening having seen Linoleum earlier ... was not the only time Linoleum and Sten clashed ...but being friends of both bands ...duty called."
