   Prior to them turning the stage around, this was not a venue you wanted to arrive late at when busy. The room is a kind of L shape and you come in at the top. The old stage was essentially round the corner, so a struggle if it was packed. Now it's at the bottom of the room facing the door, which makes a lot more sense.

   It is the back room of a pub, which was good for a 'break out' if bands on the bill weren't to your taste.

   Saw some great bands at the Joiners, and some like Skunk Anansie and Feeder who went on the play much, much bigger venues. There's not many bands you could name that didn't play here in their early days - I believe Oasis and Coldplay passed through too.

   I am writing this from memory as I've not been there for 6 years but if it hasn't changed much, you could do a lot worse for a small venue for watching bands on their first tours out.
