Brixton Academy is an award winning music venue situated in the heart of Brixton, South London. The venue has played host to many notable shows and reunions, welcoming a wide variety of artists, from Bob Dylan to Eminem, to the stage. It attracts over half a million visitors per year, accommodating over one hundred events.

Built in 1929, the site started life as one of the four state of the art

    I like this over the Hammersmith Apollo, they're similar with the good sloping floor for a good view and good sound for loud shows. Brixton Academy wins because it's just much more interesting to look at with the lush decorations. :)

    I've been to some of my most memorable gigs at the Brixton Academy. I like the sloping floor - makes it easier to see from further back, and they get a ton of great artists through. Sound is good for hip hop shows because they're well set up for heavy bass given the club nights that share the space.
