Live reviews
Having experienced a Tankus the Henge show (is show the best word? Extravaganza maybe?) in the past, I came to tonight's gig prepared for a raucous time and was not disappointed. However, there were some marked changes. Firstly, a change in personnel, with Louis and Jake (aka the Brass Section) moving on to pastures new and a couple of fresh faces to take their place, and doing a fine job. Also, a much heavier sound hit the audience from the outset. The lighter carnival sound which I experienced in previous shows has been upgraded to a sound which is, at times, reminiscent of late 60s/early 70s rock (including a nice addition of the 'She's So heavy' refrain from the Beatles Abbey Road) mixed with some New Orleans Blues. Old favourites such as Recurring Dream, Last Days and Smiling Makes the Day Go Quicker closed the show with the audience jumping and singing and screaming for more.
All the crazy antics were still present - the smoking piano, Jaz (lead Singer) climbing on to the said instrument, full audience participation etc. The whole band exude a real charisma that pulls the audience in and takes them on a wild journey and by the ends leaves them genuinely wanting more but once off stage are the most polite and gracious guys you could wish to meet, always taking time to speak with people and going out of their way to express their gratitude to them for the support they are shown.
As well as all that, these guys can really play. Not only do they know their instruments, they seemed to be immersed in musical history, taking influences from across the world, genres and the years.
I will finish on a personal note. I have seen many bands over the past 30 years and I can honestly say these guys are among, if not the best! High praise? Maybe; but you need to see them to understand. This was my 6th Tankus gig in the past 16 months and I cannot wait for the next! Salisbury Music Box I hope!!
A small but perfectly formed audience for Tankus this evening at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Playing some new-to-me songs from their new EP "Weather" together with old faves from the Tankus album, we were soon dancing away while main man Jaz mounted his steamy piano and belted them out. Tankus are a tight outfit with some serious musical chops. A great time was had by all, they were a delight. Next time we'll hire a charabanc and bring all our friends. Until then, remember "Smiling makes the day go quicker!"

Once again the Tankus the Henge concert was great and in perfect osmosis with the audience.
Jaz Delorean and all the musicians gave the best of themselves with great virtuosity and talent, as usual.
On the other hand, the stage was really too small for them and Jaz was forced to play ... sitting! Him we know leaping was struggling to hold on his chair!
Beautiful evening
OH MY GOD!! AMAZING!!!
I was so excited and they didn't disappoint.
I got sung to straight to my eyes - 'the only thing that passes here is time' - an utterly fantabulous experience.
The only fault I can find is the over amplification but that was more a fault of the venue than the band. I'd love to see them again on a bigger stage.
ThankYou to everyone involved.
Music to make you dance til your heart is content. This band really knows how to connect with their vastly mixed crowd, get everyone dancing, singing and glowing inside and out. A show not to be missed and without doubt we will be returning to rock to these tunes again as soon as possible!
❤ Thankyou Tankus The Henge ❤
These guys give 100% to their show. Absolutely fabulous night, really, truly talented. Added bonus that they talked about climate change and Extinction Rebellion. Great ethics, great music. Genius piano. Thank you for great entertainment - Insane energy.....did I mention easy on the eye too ;) xx
Tankus The Henge.. A fantastic band to see live, so much energy! They played the second sell out show at Wycombe Arts Centre in October 2017, the place was heaving.
Looking forwaard to seeing the again soon. I you've not experienced Tankus before, go and see the. You wont regret it!
Music with a feel-good factor - these guys are excellent musicians and very addictive! They make you dance and sing throughout their whole show, even if you haven't ever seen them before. I am already looking forward to their next show in my area.
