Restless Heart have been stalwarts of the Nashville country scene for over thirty years, with the five piece churning out hit after hit for fans of their radio-friendly brand of country music. They are five bearded men who look relatively unremarkable yet their music has certainly seen solid chart success, appealing to the voracious appetite of Americans for country music. Their career has seen the release of seven albums and two greatest-hits compilations, achieving six number one hits in the Billboard charts. "When She Cries" was a crossover success, appealing to followers of mainstream pop as well as to those who see Nashville as their spiritual home.
Listening to their performance at Oxford, Alabama, in March this year, their delivery of their country-pop classics was still full of passion, which certainly hasn't waned despite being in the latter stages of their career. Their music leans towards more of the ballad side of things, with minor chords aplenty. Yet in their wide discography, they also have upbeat numbers with jangle country tones that can get hips shaking and feet stomping in true, barn yard fashion. Yet for the most part, the five piece look to create an emotive atmosphere with their chiming piano and picked acoustic guitars. If this is your cup of tea, then you can't find much better than Restless Heart.
