Biography
The Whispers came together in 1964, in California, and they were made up of twin brothers Wallace and Walter Scott. Wallace Scott was the voice of the band and was the lead singer on the vast majority of their hits. The Whispers were officially hit makers with the height of their fame being the 1970s and 1980s. Their first breakthrough into Top 40 was the song “Rock Steady”, which made it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it to number 7.
They are a band that originally started their career on a major label, but decided to downsize to a smaller label based in Los Angeles called Soul Clock. They were lead by Ron Carson, who became responsible for their huge hit, “Seem Like I Got To Do Wrong” in 1970. Moving again to a larger label called Janus, they decided to stick to working with Carson; however, during the height of their career the band was signed to SOLAR Records who were led by Dick Griffey. Much later in their career they started their own label called Satin Tie Productions, and released an album called “For Your Ears Only”.
They have been responsible for some very memorable performances indeed such as their performance of the National Anthem at the 1989 World Series.
It was in 2014, that The Whispers were inducted into The R&B Music Hall of Fame. The “And the Beat Goes On” singers still perform to this day.
Live reviews
The Whispers are the epitome of an all-black, afro toting boogie group: they have funk, they have soul and they have a stage presence that is unrivalled in their genre. When they first appeared on stage, I was reminded of a mature Jackson Five. However, the Whispers have a far more mature, mellow sound that is fitting of their name. The Whispers are legends in their genre, and it is clear why. Even at their impressive ages, the band is fun, talkative and charming on stage. Men older than my grandparents were boogieing like there was no tomorrow, clicking their fingers and swinging theirhips like crazy. Although their vocals were obviously not quite the same as when the band was in their prime, they certainly put on a show and the vocals were definitely still up to scratch. Opening with ‘And the Beat Goes On’ was pure genius as it really got the crowd going as everybody sang alongto the classic. ‘Rock Steady’, ‘Keep On Loving Me’ and ‘Just Gets Better With Time’ also all met with rapturous applause and were all highlights of the evening. The show ended in style with hit ‘It’s a Love Thing’.
I am so glad you have asked for a review of The Whispers.
My husband and I went to this event at the SB County Fair grounds on July 25, 2015.
We had a lot of issues with this event.
1. It was to be outside on the stadium,
it was moved to the inside building #4.
2. The sound was terrible.
3. The proformers prior to the Whispers were terrible.
4. The instruments, music was so loud you couldn't hear the artist sing.
5.Howard Hewitt was the reason we purchased the tickets from this event.
Howard Hewitt came out talking about he needs to sing to be paid and sang a grospel song, ONE SONG.
6. The seating was a JOKE, the rows were sort of labeled, but the seats were not.
7.The ushers were telling us to sit anywhere, that it didn't matter.
8. We were charged $5.00 for parking, nothing was said about the parking fee.
9. I want my money back. This is my contact information.

My seats were N121 & N123.
P.S. I will have to think long and hard before I ever purchase a ticket from Songkick again.
My wife and I have been fans of The Whispers ever since we were dating in the mid sixties. I guess you could say we grew up on their music.
The Whispers were one of the very first concert performances we attended and we've followed them ever since. One of the things we admire about the Whispers is that they are a class act. They are always dressed sharp, are respectful and very appreciative of their fans.
The most impressive thing to me about The Whispers is how the numbers they perform sound just like the original studio recordings. That's not always the case with some artists. That's very important to my wife and I.
The Whispers are a very talented group who along with their Band, make every effort to give their fans what they've come to expect, "Excellence"
The music and songs was great. The meet and greet part where we were to talk with them and have a short conversation with them was crappie the operational manager at Motor city casino didn't give a chance to say hello. He rushed out so fast I feel cheated like he owe me some money back. Other than that it was great,
We're fromBelgium and we are coming every 6 months to New York and thisis THE first time That we have THE change to SEe one of THE greatest groups THE Wispers

The show was fabulous!
As usual, Walter captured the audience and had everyone on their feet dancing. Scotty lights up soul & spirit with his sultry voice...
Mr. Degree had everyone laughing as he was joking with the audience Overall, it was an awesome show. I give it 5 ***** Stars!
I love "The Whispers" other then the disorganization and it wasn't their fault, they were like the always are "Great Performers" they always come through. Every chance I get I go see "The Whispers" they are so "Classy" I love their music :)
