DJ sets have become very samey over the past years, but the performance that Neelix gave was wonderfully original. His stage was set up in all neon colours and decorations, and he was super enthusiastic about getting everyone on board and joining in with his dancing and singing along to the samples in his tracks. He had the audience on his side straight away, and he kept putting his arms in the air and shouting ‘everybody dance now’, getting people hyped for his set.
He played some awesome remixes to get the crowd warmed up, and was great at reading what everyone was enjoying and playing more of the same kind of music. When he played his original tracks, he gave the performance 110%, which really got everyone in the audience on board for the rest of his tracks. It was a humble way to play his set, but I really think that if he’d have opened the show with his own music, it would have gone down just as well as the familiar remixes, as he is incredible at creating super catchy tunes.
Absolutely incredible show - definitely a DJ you must tick off your bucket list. Venue could have been better however none the less an excellent set from Neelix. Now a seasoned international doof act and his opinion carries weight. He contends that, in part, psy-parties' slight commercialism has arisen because the traditional psy-trance scene of yesteryear has morphed into a milieu of different genres.
