With a unique sound and great songs, I believe The Zutons are one of most under rated british bands of modern times. Their debut album "Who Killed the Zutons" is superb. If you haven't got, get on ITUNES now! I was lucky enough to see the at Milton Keynes Bowl, a cracking venue. Unfortunately the weather left a lot to be desired, but despite the rain and wind, the band seemed up beat as they took to the stage. In their thick ‘scouse' accents they address the audience and thank us for being there.
Most of the applause was aimed at saxophonist Abi Harding, the lovely looking young women clearly had a large fan base of her own in the audience. It wasn’t long before she started playing the riffs that give The Zutons their distinctive sound. It was a lively, upbeat show. Tracks like ‘Zuton Fever’, ‘Pressure Point’ and ‘Havana Gang Brawl’ bought the energy levels up and the audience happily danced in the rain. Other tracks like ‘Confusion’ and ‘Remember Me’ meant it was time for a sing along as the songs were sang back by the audience with great enthusiasm.
They finished the show with Valerie, which became their most famous track largely thanks to the cover by Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson. Their original version is equally as brilliant, and a great track to end a gig.
This was a brilliant show by a simple brilliant British band.
Amazing night at the awesome Albert Halls.
What a night!
I’d been eagerly anticipating my third Zutons gig after such a long time away and wasn’t disappointed; still as energetic and vibrant as ever, still buzzing now!
Go see them!
The support acts added to this perfect night with the Illicits and Queen Zee,(who totally deserve their cult following-just ordered my cd)
Three fantastic Liverpool bands and the best venue.
