Matthew Good was the lead singer of Matthew Good Band, which s one of the most successful alt rock bands of the 90s. They did a lot in the time that they were around fusing together some complex riffs, some fantastic musicality and some amazing lyricism from Matthew Good himself. This multi instrumentalist takes to the stage wit ha beautiful Gibson acoustic guitar in hand ready to deliver some of the biggest songs he has penned to this adoring audience who won free tickets to this session in what looks like the live room of his studio. He opens with “Rico” a song taken from his album “Underdogs”, and peaked at number 23 in the Canadian charts. He can’t believe his luck as the audience participates in his songs throughout the set. “Raygun” is another huge hit during this set where Good finds himself on the piano delivering an exclusive performance of a version that has never been seen before. It is when he gets to “Strange Days” that there is a very quiet moment across the audience, leaving them feeling full up of this stunning acoustic alternative rock.
I really tried to love this show but unfortunately it was really quite boring. It was only him so basically the entire show including the opening act were without any percussionists. The tempo of songs I love were slowed down beyond recognition.
To make it just a bit worse, it appeared that Matthew was pretty loaded and rambling. Overall, Pretty disappointing. We stayed until the end in the hopes that he’d pick up the pace and basically there was only one song that was performed well.
Matthew Good fans are diehards but many left half way through the show. MG seemed to be aware that he was losing the crowd and tried to pick up the pace but just couldn’t get on track and deliver his usual performance. Without a band to support him it was just really a boring uneventful show. I will continue to listen to his music but not likely to lay out any cash for future shows unless there is a band to support him.
Well. It's been a while since I've seen Matthew Good live, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pretty disappointed. The sound was quite muffled at first. They seemed to fix that. I heard a couple of his more popular songs and a few I hadn't heard before. I found the lighting to be TERRIBLE. It was hard to see him a lot of the time. It's like they forgot what a spotlight was. The LED lighting effects were blinding. I had to actually block my eyes. We ended up leaving early. I've never left a concert early.
The opening act was great , Matt was in a good mood and was right on tune through out the show . He sang alot of new songs and a couple old ones . I wish he had busted out some more older tunes . I guess he was just him on tour not the band . Over all great to see that side of one of Canada's rock stars in a small setting . A Canadian that has inspired alot of people with his music, young and old .Keep it up and will see you back in Sarnia soon .
Matthew Good don't play this show. Y'all are a bunch of jerks for promoting it as such. Thanks for wasting my time and money. Matthew Good don't play this show. Y'all are a bunch of jerks for promoting it as such. Thanks for wasting my time and money.
The concert was awesome. They have updated the venue at London Music Hall and we had seating provided. He is amazing performer and very funny chatting between songs. We had a wonderful time.
