Hearing artists blend and manipulate pre-existing genres to create their own is something really special, and demonstrates genuine talent. Federico Abuele’s fusion of electronic dub with his singer/songwriter music creates a magical and almost trance-like sound.
Seeing electronic music performed live usually consists of a DJ behind a booth, and a huge room of EDM fans dancing around, but Aubele’s concert was something completely innovative and new. He walked on stage along with a female vocalist, and his electronic musician took his place behind his kaoss pad and synth. All of the music was produced live on stage, and watching the live performance of this unfold was magical. Aubele played his guitar and sang his chilled out indie lyrics whilst his singer harmonised beautifully over the top. He was an extremely humble performer who thanked the audience for all of the support that he’s had over the years, and spoke a little bit about the background of the music and how he came about composing the songs, which was really interesting. Hearing a new style of music is rare and refreshing, and I definitely recommend seeing Aubele live if you like his sound.
Just okay. I liked his stuff on Spotify, but it seems like Federico is trying to sing more in English, maybe to appeal to an American audience? Not that crazy about his English lyrics, anyways - was cringing a lot at the corniness. Hi guitar playing was beautiful, not enough of that. Hope he sticks to Spanish or gets a lyricist.
