Port O’Brien is definitely an interesting band, as they come from California and have combined a wide range of elements to make a unique sound. They have a touch of acoustic, folk, and indie rock vibes with a three person group that focuses heavily on vocals and acoustic guitar. The sound comes out very genuine and real, and everything works really well together from their style to the tones. They have a great amount of energy, showing emotion and passion without looking too fake on stage. They do a great job of incorporating the crowd as well, making it a very personalized show. That is really what their live show comes down to for me, as they take already great music and give it a personal and intimate touch that really brings out the best in the lyrics and vibe. They do not really bother with any kind of special effects or lighting, they just play great music and let that stay in focus at all times. I am sure some types of people out there expect different things from a musical performance, but true fans of the music will enjoy every single note and verse of it. It was a great time watching them feed off of each other and the audience to really open up.
