In my opinion the show was a disaster on several issues: perhaps at some point this person was able to sing professionally however this is no longer the case. She was capable of lower range but only falsetto in middle and of course nothing in the higher range. Some of her humor was fairly good but if she apologized one more time for being tired from her 345 mile drive I'd have agreed to the point of asling for a complete refund. I paid a lot of money to hear a folk concert not a discourse on the 2nd Amendment and less than flatteting references amount the people who are apparently only aware of that Amendment. I was offended by her political views, she is entitled to her opinion but I didn't purchase a ticket to hear them, I did buy a ticket to hear music and that was desperately lacking. I also do not agree with her political opinion aboit the person the White House. I didn't particularly care for the man in the White House before the one now but he was my President, agree with him or not. Get over it, I did.
I paid top dollar to attend a music concert not a political rally. Thd musjc sucked and the bully pull it politicking was unappreciated and crude.
I was once a big fan of the Hangar Theatre. I was away for 17 years and upon my return have noted a marked decline in the quality of your productions. Now, if this is the best act you have for your stage I fear thst in short order they will be housing aircraft once again in the Hangar rather than this rubbish you are trying to pass off as entertainment as advertised.
Thank you for your kind opportunity to let you know how your program was received.
New England is quite an inspirational place, especially for folk music; the natural foliage and relaxed-ness that you feel just inspires the best. Such is the case for Cheryl Wheeler, who is no stranger to producing country folk music, having been active in the music industry since 1986.
She is an absolute joy to watch, and no matter what venue you are at, makes you feel right at home. The whimsical lyrics of her songs like “Is It Peace or It Is Prozac?” take on much more meaning when you can hear, as well as the feel her emotions when you listen to the songs live. There is so much passion and she is clearly having tons of fun from performing live. You know as you watch her, that she does what she does because she loves it, not because it’s a job, or because she is in it for the money. It is truly about the experience. Between songs, she will always have something to say, usually an anecdote that leads to the inspiration to the song that she is about to play. She is extremely personable and by the end of the show you feel like you’ve become personal friends with Cheryl, something that you don’t get from all shows.
I've seen Cheryl many times over the years, the most recent being a 2019? concert in her hometown of Timonium, Maryland -- in a church with John Gorka. To @Randalhauser I would say that's too bad you hated everything about the concert and I have to wonder why you would even attend if you had known anything about Cheryl or her music beforehand. I wasn't at the concert you are talking about, but I am doubtful her voice would be so terrible when even her YouTube videos from her kitchen still sound great. Pretty sure that is most of why people go to see her -- to hear her parodies and responses to offensive "religious" groups etc. But it looks like none of us will get to see her soon, as we got a notice 36 hours before a concert in Pennsylvania notifying us that Cheryl had checked herself in to a psychiatric facility. I really hope she is taking care of herself and returns to performing when and if she is ready. Valerie S.
The concert was a ton of fun, both performers are friendly and approachable and have far more energy than expected. Of course the audience interaction made it engaging and miss Wheeler is hilarious as always, I haven't had that kind of fun at a live venue in a long time. I hope she visits again soon!
