The indie rock band, Dinosaur Feathers, create music that is as fierce as a dinosaur, but can be so light and breezy that you might feel that you are floating on a feather. Dinosaur Feathers’ music encompasses a vast array of musical genres ranging from pop-rock, soul, psychedelic, and jam music.
Their instrumental music is often presented in an upbeat, joyful manner, but their vocals are delivered with a raw power that contains a strong sense of soul. Dinosaur Feathers is known for doing beautiful, all acoustic renditions of their music. During their acoustic performances they draw sounds that are close to Fleet Foxes with their pitch perfect harmonies and polyphonic acoustic guitar playing. A band that declares to take musical inspiration from the likes of Janet Jackson can be expected to have a sense of funk to their music. Their music has an edgy, funk style that is incorporated through the use of synthesizers. The synths are played in the tone of a retro ‘80s new wave sound, but this just adds to the interesting aspects of Dinosaur Feathers’ sound. The singer presents his voice in a highly rhythmic way by singing in synchronization with some of the jangly guitar riffs. The singer also has great dynamic range and is able to shoot up his voice to falsetto in a flash.
The feel of a Dinosaur Feathers’ concert is laid back and chill. The guys in the band seem incredibly mellow and down to earth even though they sometimes turn their music into full overdrive, belting out their vocal parts at the top of their lungs. Dinosaur Feathers often come up with interesting rhythmic patterns in their music that often seems to be influenced by tribal African music. Their harmonies are soothing to the soul and their melodic guitar riffs are bound to put their audiences in a good mood. If you are looking to see a band that has great group dynamics and chemistry, and a band that can really get the audience jiving to their music, then Dinosaur Feathers will be bound to impress you.
