Dressy Bessy played Sunday, April 24th 2016 at the intimate Sunset Tavern in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA and I had the privilege of being there. After being a long time fan, this was my first chance to see them live. I was not disappointed. They came out full of energy and delivered a great setlist that spanned their whole career. It consisted of a lot of songs from their new album "KINGSIZED", which has them leaning towards more faster paced, pop punk, with two and a half minute numbers. This sound translated excellently into a live setting, as it enabled the band to really energize the crowd and perform to their strengths without having to rely on all the detailed overdubbed melody lines that normally accompany a Tammy Ealom studio track. Even the songs they did from their earlier albums were sped up and injected with new life. It was great to see a band thoroughly enjoying themselves while giving ample appreciation to all the fans in attendance. They were funny and interactive with the audience and made everyone feel awesome just for being there. After the show they stuck around to meet anyone who wanted to say thanks or shake hands, and made sure the fans felt just as much a part of the experience as the band. Great music, great show, great band. I will not miss Dressy Bessy next time they come around, as they promised they would!
Saw them July 21 2019 at Harlow's in Sacramento. Maybe because it was Sunday, maybe because it was a hot day, there were only maybe 40 people there. It didn't stop them from playing a great show, or me from being the dancing fool rocking out in the back of the room. They played a nice range of material from the oldest to the newest. One highlight of the show, maybe due to the intimate nature of the venue only having a few people there, the band left the stage and Tammy Ealom stayed behind, stepped down off the stage and played a few acoustic songs standing around with the audience including "Just Like Henry". It was pretty sweet. Seeing their show was like seeing an awesome band in your friend's basement. I can't believe they are not selling out these venues. They deserve to be much bigger than it seems like they are. So if they are in your town, or even just near it, take the opportunity to see a rockin' power pop show in an intimate venue where you are practically hanging out with the band.
Tammy Ealom is a powerhouse. She exudes charisma and has power pop filling her veins. She and the whole band seemed joyful, feeding off the audience and vice versa. I can't believe I got to see them in such a small wonderful venue as Union Hall. It is incredible that they haven't found a wider audience, they deserve to be filling much larger venues. Catch them at a small place while you can.
What an incredible show! Weather was great. There was great beer and wine. The band was fantastic and so was the sound. We loved that we could go see a great music show and the go see a wonderful art exhibit! So happy we went
