The performer is Mercer, and the setting is the Electric Daisy Carnival in New York. His style is that of an aggressive and progressive style of house music. It’s just one of those sounds that really makes a splash in this crowd, making them dance from the start to finish. He introduces remixes of some of the biggest songs out there including a remix of Karen – O’s “Heads Will Roll”, the huge song that came out a couple of years ago adorning the Project X soundtrack.
This hour-long set is in all honesty pretty formulaic, but whatever that formula is, that has been tried and tested by so many DJ’s and producers out there, it’s absolutely working, with the melodic musical exerts that get the audience roiled up as it’s a tune that they recognise, into something along the lines of a build up where the snare sound doubles and doubles into a fast fill in, right into the “drop” of a four to the floor beat, usually with the bass at the forefront of the sound. Mercer performs his biggest single yet; a song called “Therapy” that has this audience in hysteria.
