Live reviews
I don’t usually write reviews, but after seeing a DJ set from George FitzGerald, I’m absolutely compelled to. I’ve followed his music since he emerged on the electronic dance music scene back in 2010, and have admired his skills, but seeing him live he really exceeded my expectations. He opened the set by playing his track Child to get everyone dancing, and he had a microphone and was shouting out to the audience, introducing himself, and thanking us for coming, whilst he was mixing.
After playing child, he did something incredibly original, and performed a short solo of him simply scratching the decks, with no pre recorded backing, and no music over the top, and although it wasn’t something that you could dance to, it was an incredible show case of talent, that had the whole audience cheering like mad.
He continued to play tracks from his EPs and mixtapes, and played all the hits that everyone was there for. When he played Don’t You, he also had a synth with him that he played along with, which was really cool to see him multi task whilst DJing at the same time. He’s a really talented artist who makes great music, and one who is even better to see live.
