The Slow Readers Club have built a reputation through pure hard work coupled with infectious tunes. Their reputation cemented in their home town this gig at Manchester Cathedral sold out in minutes of the tickets going on sale.
Nominally showcasing their new album which was released on the same day most of the crowd were already familiar with the new output but reserved their rapture for the older tunes.
Lead Singer, Aaron Starkie, is slowly morphing into the consummate frontman bantering easily with the crowd.
This a a band clearly on the rise. Their new album should catapult them to greater success but only time will tell.
We had the good fortune to see Slow Readers Club supporting James at The Cliffs Pavillion, Southend. We went to see James but were absolutely bowled over by the talent and fantastic songs of Slow Readers Club.
The singers voice live is just amazing and the musicians are a dream to listen to. I've since bought their Cavalade album and will be going to see them live again, without a doubt.
The album is very good but these guys are even more amazing live. If you get the chance to see them, I'd well recommend it.
From Gaynor, a new and lifelong supporter :-)
At 'Readers' first gig in Wales - great as always and really went down well with a new audience. A mix of the tried and trusted and a few from the album out next week - we can't wait.
The Readers deserve big audiences outside of the North-West and with nights like this their reputation will spread.
Great support band in Skies - will follow them as well.
I'm off to book our tickets for Islington Assembly Hall on 25 May - for those in London not already SRC fans, don't miss out.
One of the best gigs I have ever been to! The atmosphere was euphoric, thanks to a core group of super-fans, who clearly follow this band around, and the singer's interaction with the crowd: singing directly at people, who sang back in return (yes, including me!). Reader-mania appears to have taken hold, in some cult-like fashion, and I am definitely in! I hope to see them again, will make sure I'm near the front again, and learn some more words in the meantime!!
Awesome live sound from a very tight professional set. Intensity and psych rock which reminded me of The Chameleons, another favourite cult Manchester legend. Did not know about SRC until a month ago which is an absolute crime as they should be so much bigger by now. The band did not play any encore which in my book is the epitome of cool and came to the stall for pictures and signing records for fans. Thanks guys, will definitely catch you again.
The slow readers club were the supporting act for James at city hall Newcastle on 17 th May, What a brilliant performance, they were fantastic. Bought two CDs after the show, cavalcade is there latest release and I think they performed most of the songs that night from cavalcade.
I'm looking out to see them again hopefully soon. if you have tickets to see James and slow readers club you will have a great night.
March of The Readers began at Carlisle for me. This was the second gig of the Spring Tour and sprung us out of the Winter doldrums. A new track was introduced and went down magnificently. Don't miss this band playing these smaller venues, where you can get up close an personal with the band. These boys never disappoint.
Saw slow readers club in Nottingham at the bodeaga, great little venue. Band were brilliant from start to finish, great songs and had the crowd bouncing all night. Even stayed behind chatting with everyone after and had pictures with everyone. Definitely get to see them, you won't be disappointed
First time seeing the "Readers" and they were superb. Have a full set of quality tunes and Aaron Starkie is a great front man. Saw them in a small venue in Reading, got a feeling they won't be playing small venues much longer if they carry on like this. Go see them now.
