Duncan Beiny a.k.a. DJ Yoda knows how to cut and paste tracks and spin his turntables to get the audience moving on their feet. In a sense his name, DJ Yoda, is very appropriate for him. He may be a bit on the short side, but he is wise at mixing beats that are some of the most powerful and groovy in the DJ scene.
DJ Yoda is a great performer as he knows how to create the perfect balance when mixing songs. Most DJs make the mistake of overwhelming the audience with adding too much over-stimulating mixes at one time, but DJ Yoda knows how to create the perfect mix that won’t fry the audience’s brain and will still leave them highly engrossed in the performance. DJ Yoda focuses his mixes on the more hip-hop style instead of a highly driven EDM and Dub-Step style that have been seen by most DJs lately. His sense of hip-hop allows him to perform his set that delivers a great amount of soul to the performance. Instead of using incredibly loud bass drops in his music, he uses the implementation of classic sounding reggae bass lines and the vintage sound of old drum machines.
DJ Yoda is also a very fun performer as he likes to incorporate antics into his performance. At one of his shows he introduced himself with a hilarious caption in the style of the Star Wars font displayed on the screen behind him. He doesn’t take himself too seriously at shows and is just trying to present a show that will make everyone have a good time. DJ Yoda not only is lauded by fans, but he is also praised by critics. He has won an award for DMC DJ of the year and Q Magazine has listed him as one of the top ten DJs to see before you die. DJ Yoda’s blend of great remixes and captivating stage presence makes him a must see DJ.
We didn't see yoda in the end last night,we left before he started, the venue wasn't the best fo drinks selections for myself and we didn't feel like waiting around any longer, we weren't asked about tickets going in so it felt as if we were the only two who bothered to pay an yet never saw anything :-( the tickets were cheap so we didn't feel too bad done by but a refund would be great as one round of our drinks cost more than a ticket to see yoda and the only reason we went, not to mention the money we had to use on the oyster cards,...sure yoda would of been great when he did start though, maybe next time
