Live reviews
Despite a few teething problems before the set began, it was yet another fantastic performance from this group of brilliant musicians.
They ran through their repertoire consisting mainly of items from their first album, along with a couple of tracks from their hotly anticipated follow up. In amongst these were a couple of excellent blues numbers and of course that superb version of Purple Rain that they do in their own unique style. I'm not sure whether or not this was planned or more a giving in to the shouts for it. Made famous due to its release last year for CALM, which shows the humanity that the band possess.
After the show, we chatted to a few band members including Keith who genuinely seemed as interested in us as we were in him.
I love this band.
On Saturday14th July ‘18, our decision to celebrate the birthday of Vicky, our lovely Donny friend, by watching Xander & the Peace Pirates at the Leopard in Doncaster, was a touch of genius.
The venue, but more importantly, the band, were truly amazing. XATPP must be one of the finest live bands around, with their music constantly reminding us, of how life should really be lived, with LOVE for all & everyone as it’s main focus. They are inspirational as a band, but more so as beautiful human beings. If you get a chance to see them, you, like me, will be blown away by the whole experience. Until the next time guys, keep up your amazing performances. Love you x
Having seen the full band perform twice before, I was interested to see how the brothers combined as a duo.
I couldn’t believe the multiple layers of sound produced with just two guitars. No drums. No keyboards. No bass. No backing track.
With superb songs from their first album and upcoming second, there were also some wonderful cover versions such as Prince’s Purple Rain and Chris Isaac’s Wicked Game.
Can’t recommend them highly enough.
