‘Don’t go breaking my heart, I couldn’t if I tried, Honey if I get restless, Baby you’re not that kind’….if you don’t know the famous duo by Kiki Dee and Elton John, you must have been living under a rock for the last 30 years, but I was super excited to hear Kiki in her live show, and her solo version of the famous track was fantastic. Of course Dee has a huge back catalogue of music of her own, and she played an incredible selection of tracks from many of her albums through the years.
I was a little apprehensive, and thought that she may have lost some of her spark over the years, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. She opened the show with so much energy, and launched straight into her track Hard Luck Story, and got everyone in the crowd singing along with the catchy chorus. The way that she commanded the crowd was admirable, and her attempts getting everyone to stand up and dance along were well received every time.
Although she doesn’t have any new tracks released, she played a song that she was working on, and it was incredible to hear a work in progress performed live for the first time. It would be incredible if she were to release a new album, as she’s definitely still got the talent and creativity to make it a hit!
