Meg & Dia, the sisters hailing from Draper in Utah, U.S.A, take to the stage tonight to perform songs that they were so very well known for in the late 2000’s when they released such catchy middle of the road material.
They stormed the scene with their “cute” voices singing in beautiful harmony in the song “Indiana”. Tonight that is their opening song as they walk onstage. Meg has her Gibson Les Paul over her shoulder, and Dia just has her microphone from which she wraps the cable around her wrist. The gathering through out this feat is screaming at the top of their lungs in anticipation. Dia politely quietens the volume of the audience, and counts in “One two, one two three four,” leading into “I can do what ever I want like you, I can do what ever I want like you”… the band walk on stage to back these siblings, and then crash into the chorus with the minor chords of the chorus of “Indiana”. The sisters lead the band into the song “Monster” which was another one of their breakthrough singles. Their sound is comparable to the sound of Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton. Their set closer is the stunning “Roses” which was the first song that I felt they showcased an autobiographical angst instead of angst based on fictional characters and stories. The audience, including myself sings loud and proud the “I don’t even know you, you won’t even know I’m gone”. A very beautiful moment between audience and crowd indeed.
It’s no wonder that Dia Frampton went on to be a runner up on The Voice U.S.A.
