What a privilege it was to see Dyson Stringer Cloher in such an intimate venue, the Vanguard. These three talented ladies are all amazing singers, songwriters and musicians in their own right, but together they are magical. Their beautiful harmonies sounded superb, and the poetic lyrics were easy to appreciate thanks to magnificent acoustics and a spot on sound tech. Mia, Liz and Jen’ s talents complimented each other wonderfully throughout the evening. Their love for the music, their joy in sharing it with each other and the audience, and their shared sense of humour made it a night to remember. They played most if not all the brilliant tracks off the new album as well as some from their previous EP and wrapped it up with a beautiful a Cappella “Can I Borrow Your Eyes,” leaving the audience crying out for more.
Dyson Stringer Cloher rocked the house at the Landsdowne in Sydney Thursday night. These three astounding artists' wowed the crowd with their breathtaking vocal harmonies and kickass guitar riffs. The women's musical styles and personalities complimented each other perfectly, their love for music and laughter lighting up the small venue. The trio showcased a number of heartfelt new songs off their latest album, and came together brilliantly to perform crowd favourites from each of their solo efforts as well. At the end of the night the audience was rewarded with an unforgettable a capella rendition of "Can I Borrow Your Eyes" from the new album, and finally the trio united with opener, Jodi Phillis to perform a Clouds classic, leaving the audience shouting for more.
Let me tell you something about Jen Cloher.
I've been to a lot of shows at The Echo. I've had some of my best concert experiences at The Echo. I've seen pop and rap there, rock and funk.
But I've never, ever, heard The Echo sound as good as when Jen Cloher played there.
That's it. She's amazing and a total badass. Tore up the stage with Courtney Barnett on guitar, and Mia Dyson (who also shredded through that opening slot) even jumped up there for a song. Tears were shed. Laughs were had. Dancing did happen. Then, she hung out and gave hugs after the show.
Unequivocally the best show I've seen at The Echo, and one of the best shows I've seen, period.
Hi Jen, I had a great evening at the Leather Goods. Always a pleasure to see you and hear from you, thanks to you and Courtney, whom I appreciate with Kurt. I'm really happy to have discovered you through other artists. You a sacred woman, strong woman. I enjoyed the other artists at Alligator Night, it was a rock night. Thank you thank you i love you.
