Live reviews
Been trying for 30+ years to see LA Guns and I finally did tonight with my good buddy Robert J. Oppenheimer. (Who I’ve served in Army with since 1991). Every time LA Guns was on tour and anywhere within driving Range , I was deployed, on a mission, in the field, etc. And they actually played here in Colorado Springs at a venue 20 minutes away. If you didn’t know Traci Guns ( lead guitar) was one of the original founders of Guns & Roses. While I do like a few GnR songs, personally I like way more songs by LA Guns. I think LAG write better songs. And Traci Guns is such an incredible guitarist. Phil Lewis vocals sounded just as good as he did in the 80s. Scott Coogan is a great addition to the band . Seen him before live before and he’s a killer drummer. The whole band shredded. Great setlist. They played everything song you would want to hear. The only other song I would liked to heard
of is “ It’s Over Now”. One of my top 3 LA Guns songs .
If they come your way, make sure you go see them.
L.A Guns have always been known as one of Los Angeles’ best supergroups ever formed. They formed in 1983, put together by Tracii Guns. It almost seems like a rite of passage for some of rock and rolls biggest names to at one point be a member of this band, alumni includes, Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen, Slash. (Basically all of Guns N’ Roses). Even Nikki Sixx has been in this band! This band has also had 14 studio albums, 6 live albums, 5 EPs and 4 singles. They take to this huge stage tonight to perform some of their biggest songs over the years. Opening with “It’s Over Now”, the band walk out on stage, with guitars over their shoulders and egos on their sleeves, taking their places as though it’s the way nature intended. There is some epic music played before hand to roil up the audience. “Kiss My Love Goodbye” is a worthy mid set peak that keeps this audience of all ages extremely excited; “The Ballad of Jayne” is the song that closes the set in a great style.
L.A. Guns still know how to rock 'n' roll! This line-up included original drummer Steve Riley, who proved he's still got it, if not more than ever. Bassist Kenny Kweens complimented both drums and guitar perfectly, and lead guitarist Michael Grant is something to behold. You must experience his expertise first hand. This is one guitarist to look out for. Not only did he perform Tracii Gun's licks with ease but added a style all his own, showing off his vocal ability with a tribute to the late great Prince. As always Philip Lewis gave it his all, captivating to watch, and reminded us what rock 'n' roll is all about. Check them out! A real 'Hell-raisers Ball'.
Philip Francis Lewis was very confident with reunion of most old original la group .pointedly guns himself. Baby boomers loved his desire to remind generation x and y that eighties band had a great sound and song writing capibilities like steve perry of journey. I loved it and the only reason i wanted to view was due i just learned of this band because of tha song ballad of jayne. Remarkably i went to high school with a girl named jayne and i was in love with her when i joined tha Army left my little town of Tennessee never to see or marry jayne wallin back n 1983. It takes me back to that time in my life and i do wonder ....what happened to Jayne Wallin???

Hope this helped,flawless performance,Til June,SandraHollingsworth
My first show of theirs ever. I have waited almost thirty years to see them live and was not disappointed! Great energy, great chemistry, the place was on fire! I was glad to see LA Guns reunited and loved the chemistry among the whole band. The warmup acts were really good as well. Glad to see local acts getting a chance to work the crowd and get some recognition. My son went with me and he even enjoyed the show. Played a lot of great songs and worked the crowd into a frenzy. Loved it!!! Thank you guys!!! I hope to see them again.
I have never seen anyone look so happy to be onstage and playing guitar as Tracii Guns on Sunday night. What an awesome show. (guitarist) Michael Grant, (drummer) Shane Fitzgibbon, and (bassist) Johnny Martin were tighter than a crab's azzhole, and Phil! Man he sounds just like he did in 1988.
This was my third time seeing the Guns, and my first time seeing them with both Tracii and Phil. I can't wait to see them again in July and I totally recommend them to anyone who wants a real rock and roll show!!
After years of there being two, competing incarnations of LA Guns (one led by vocalist Phil Lewis, the other by guitarist Tracii Guns), it was a treat to see the two stars together. Several bands of Guns' era exist today with predominantly new members, and while it's all fun and a good time as long as you sound good; something is to be said for having the original guys up there. Guns played all the hits, predominantly their classic material though the new song(s) sounded great too.
Great show as always. They did a tribute to Prince and Michael Grant sang Purple rain. Who knew Michael cold sing? He did a awesome job. Look out Phil.
Also we were watching the Joey C Jones before Guns came on and what would know a guy walks up and stands in front of us for a moment and it was Phil Lewis! Awesome! These guys know how to put on a good show. See ya next time
