In 2007 after relentlessly bugging producer Tommy Rotem on MySpace (back when it was a thing) Kisean Anderson finally got his break and thus Sean Kingston was born. Taking the latter part of his stage name from his native hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, he fuses reggae with hip-hop and R&B. Later that year he released his debut single “Beautiful Girls” a homage through similar bass line and lyrical content to Ben E King’s “Stand By Me”, Kingston went straight into the charts at number one. Having supported Gewn Stefani and Beyonce while crossover collaborating with artists such as: Wyclef, Benny Hill and Good Charlotte has seen Kingston gain in great popularity.
The influence of his native Jamaica is very apparent in his live shows, often with the vibrant Jamaican flag being situated on stage or in the crowd. Changing up the performance depending on occasion, whether it’s an awards show with breakdancing and pyro, or television performance with a brass band, or even his own show you can be sure to find the party atmosphere being kept alive. With a cool composure on stage, Kingston is never short of having beautiful backing dancers surrounding him. He’s definitely a ladies man as he serenades the largely female audience who scream at a single glance. Expects lots of energy and summer anthems all night long.
