  • Though controversy has sometimes followed him, meaning his Savage Life series (which is proving to be an even more prophetic title with the death of Trill Entertainment member Lil Phat and Lil Boosie time in prison) there’s no doubting that on his mixtapes and live shows Webbie proves he’s one of the trillest southern rappers around. His latest album Savage Life 4 showcases a rapper with prodigious talent. It’s an album that finds him returning to familiar territory with drilled dirty beats and riotous street tales. The production on tracks like Fucked Her and Realest shows an eye for both the dancefloor and the charts. It’s Independent which is his biggest hit – and you’ll probably recognise it from Macklemore who sampled it on his number one hit, "Can't Hold Us." Llive Webbie is a showman (you can tell he’s appeared in the odd movie or two) and these songs are highly charged. His verbal skills whip the crowd into a frenzy and he’s already said that he sees himself as immortal. Watching him live you kind of believe it. He’s a rapper who knows what his fans want and delivers it. He’s said that he wants to make Savage Life series up to number 100 – if he carries on progressing the way he has been then he will prove himself to really be the trillest.

  • Gimmie That is one of the catchiest rap songs of the past decade, and the track that gave Webbie his start in the music industry. As well as pursuing his solo career, Webbie works along the Lil Boosie to create music, ad it’s been featured in films and TV shows.

Webbie’s shows are usually pretty intimate and he always gets the entire audience rapping along to his hip hop beats with him. His lyrics are cleverly rhymed and manipulated so as to make them memorable, and even people who didn’t appear to know the songs at the start of the show were singing along enthusiastically by the end of the show. He’s great at interacting with the audience, getting everyone to dance by shouting ‘lets go’ and putting his arms in the air. He’s so clearly completely dedicated to his music that he’s an absolute pleasure to watch. And an exhilarating one! However, over the past years Webbie has seen some run ins with the law, but after his release of Gangst Musik 2, he claimed to be turning himself around. Let’s hope so, because he’s a great performer, and it would be a shame for him and his fans if he were unable to perform any more.
