Biography
In a way, Crizzly’s “about me” section on his website sums up more about his music than this biography ever could. All it says is “I like to f*ck sh*t up”, and with his blend of hard-hitting dubstep and party starting crunk, there’s no better way of putting it. After playing the trombone and the guitar while still in high school, the Austin, Texas native turned to creating electronic music when he was 19 years old. One year after he had started creating that kind of music he had founded two separate EDM club nights in the city of San Antonio, Texas called Lifted Wednesdays and Play Thursdays, which made his name as both a producer and a D.J.
Word of how utterly intense his sets could get spread far and wide and because of his growing audience, he started regularly releasing his music onto the internet. Most notably he began his “Crunkstep” series of mixtapes in 2012 and ever since then, he’s become one of the most unmissable live acts in EDM. He’s one of the very few people alive able to say that he’s played both the Vans Warped Tour and Escape From Wonderland, and he’s only just getting started. Able to incite utter carnage wherever he goes, Crizzly comes highly recommended.
Live reviews
After only a few short years on the scene, DJ and producer Crizzly is making waves in the dance world. A Texas native, he is responsible for bringing EDM club nights to San Antonio where his sound has found a following. Already known outside of his local stomping ground, Crizzly has played at festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival and Lollapalooza.
Crizzly’s brand of crunkstep features heavy bass backbones, and even heavier drops. Going to a Crizzly gig has been described as an “adrenaline-addled hybrid of a frat party and dance marathon” by journalist Lorne Chan, and Chan really isn’t wrong. Crizzly chants instructions at the crowd throughout his sets telling them when to push it, when to go crazy and when to lose control; it’s almost like he’s hazing them, but I’ve yet to see a crowd who hasn’t loved it.
Crizzly’s remixes are as popular as his original tracks, and tunes such as “F**kin Problems”, “Big Booty Bitchezz”, “Tom Ford” and “Like Dat” are always met with insane enthusiasm. Crizzly is going places for sure. Definitely catch him live now.
That show was sick!!! Threw down AS ALWAYS!!! Dancing on stage all night was pretty epic too ;) I freaking LOVE Crizzly! Anytime he's in Denver I'm definitely going to be attending his shows.
