Biography

  • From San Fernando Valley, California, USA, HAIM are a trio of sisters who play well-crafted pop songs with a rock edge.

The three sisters, Este Haim (guitar/bass), Danielle Haim (vocals/guitar) and Alana Haim (guitar/keyboards)are joined by drummer Dash Hutton to form the band, with their R&B influenced pop rock receiving widespread acclaim following their early releases in 2012. The band meld influences from 90s R&B acts such as Destiny's Child with the soft rock of Fleetwood Mac alongside 80s synth pop to create their fresh, original sound.

Having come from a musical family, the Haim sisters had a long history of performing and playing together and had started the beginnings of their band in 2007 but did not consider taking it seriously due to pursuing other interests. Following their regrouping in 2012, they played with bands such as Edward and the Magnetic Zeros and Kesha, before releasing their debut EP "Forever" as a limited free download. Alongside the release and a string of successful shows at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, US, HAIM garnered the attention of the record industry, signing with Polydor Records in the UK in June 2012. Following a UK tour and growing press coverage, HAIM topped BBC's annual poll for 'Sound of 2013,' which cemented their success for the following year, being the first all female act to win this accolade.

Their debut album, "Days Are Gone" (2013) was recorded amidst a busy touring schedule, through which HAIM became renowned for their incendiary live show, which displayed a much rockier side to their music than what was displayed on their studio recordings. The album was a huge success in the UK, reaching number one in the charts, whilst reaching number six in the US.

Whilst being an all-girl band, HAIM are quick to dismiss any tag or label of them as being a 'girl-band,' instead wishing to be respected as musicians regardless of their gender.

  • HAIM

SoCal sisters Haim have had a stonking couple of years. After winning last year's BBC Sound Of poll, their meteoric rise was kicked off proper, even though they'd been garnering oodles of hype with early material, and gaining comparisons to Fleetwood Mac for months.

Now, in the aftermath of Days Are Gone (“nu-folk meets 90s R&B”, some say,) the trio stampede across the globe, displaying their ditties for all to see. Returning to Glastonbury for an almost-unprecedented second year running, the band rattled through a hit-packed set – including a cover of Beyoncé's “XO” – in the perilous moments before a tremendous thunderstorm struck and halted the entire festival.

Staples of all their shows – or at least the majority – include rousing renditions of radio-friendly pop-rock like “Falling,” “The Wire," “If I Could Change Your Mind," “Don't Save Me” and “Forever." As well, the three sisters (Alana, Danielle and Este) are fond of chatting with the crowd, often with blunt results. However, these days, possibly the biggest definite of a Haim show is Este Haim's infamous bassface. A blend of horror-movie gurns, lemon sucking contortions and the silenced yowls of no-anaesthetic amputations, it's a sight to behold that's become as famous as the band.

  • HAIM delivered everything I expected at this show, and more! This band has so many different things going for it, that it is hard not to see them having a long successful career. As a matter of fact, in the music business of old, when there were not 10 zillion bands out there, HAIM would be playing arenas and probably making Fleetwood Mac kind of money…The Wiltern isn't the best sounding venue for sure, but HAIM overcame this and totally kicked ass, playing the tunes off of "DAYS ARE GONE" with passion and skill. As good as they all are, (and special kudos also to drummer Dash and keyboardist Tommy) it is hard not to focus on Danielle Haim and her major rock star charisma. It doesn't hurt that she rips it up on guitar and is a pretty kick ass drummer too…All in all, HAIM was amazing, and I would go back tonight if I could get a ticket...

  • One word: Amazing. Seriously, I didn't think the Haim sisters could do anything that would make me love them more... And then I saw them perform. From magical moments such as bringing their parents on stage or to telling us personal stories in between songs, it was a concert like no other. Haim is such an incredible group and their shows speak volumes to the amounts of talent they had. Life changing night seeing an out of this world band.

  • All of the buzz following them is well deserved! The album is great; but live these songs truly come to life!! It's like a old friends getting together to party. The passion in Daneille Haim's guitar play will blow you away! Este always tells pretty entertaining story or two for starters. Alana is the mad genius rounding out the rhythm section. Este is the pulse of the band!!

  • My heart was full after this show. They sound just as awesome live as they do in my headphones. Awesome energy and I truly enjoyed singing and dancing to their songs. 10/10 would attend again.

Also, there was an engagement and they invited the couple to the stage and offered to play at their wedding. (jealous)

  • Absolutely incredible, paid resale price and still got my money's worth and then some. It wasn't too crowded, and the sound was really good. Their entry and exit from the stage is definitely a breath of fresh air. Will definitely attend future shows!

  • An amazing gig by Haim as always! Great atmosphere and an amazing stage presence. Can’t wait to see them again soon.

Venue was a little hot but that isn’t the bands fault!
